Three by Three (word puzzle game)

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Three by Three mobile game (“the app”, “we”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We designed the app to collect as little as possible.

Information we collect

The app only stores information you actively create by playing. Specifically:

Username — an optional display name you choose. If you set one, it is shown publicly on the leaderboard alongside your score. You are not required to use your real name.
Gameplay data — your total score and the number of puzzles you have solved, used to rank you on the leaderboard.
A random device identifier — a random code the app generates and stores on your device (for example d_1a2b3c…). It is not your phone’s hardware ID, phone number, or advertising ID. It exists only to keep your own score attached to your leaderboard entry.

Information we do NOT collect

No account, email address, phone number, or password (there is no sign-in).
No access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or precise location.
No analytics SDKs. The only third-party SDK is the advertising provider described under “Advertising” below.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.

How your information is used

The username, score, and device identifier described above are used solely to run the game’s scoring and leaderboard features. Advertising data is handled separately, as described next.

Advertising

The app shows banner ads provided by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may collect and use a device advertising identifier and limited data (such as your approximate, non-precise location and in-app activity), including for personalized ads where you have consented.

On first launch we ask for your privacy choices. Where required (for example in the EEA and UK) you are shown a consent form, and on iOS you are asked whether the app may track you (App Tracking Transparency). If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized. You can change the iOS choice anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking, and reset your advertising ID in your device settings. Google’s use of advertising data is described in “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.”

Where your information is stored

Your score and username are stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), a hosting and database service provided by Google. Data may be processed on Google’s servers. Google’s handling of this data is governed by the Firebase Privacy and Google Privacy Policy. Your username and score are also cached locally on your device so the game works offline.

Your choices and control

Setting a username is optional. Until you set one, your score is kept only on your device and does not appear on the public leaderboard.
Because usernames are public, please avoid putting personal information (such as your full name, email, or phone number) in your username.
You can change your username at any time from the leaderboard screen.
Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in your device settings, removes the random identifier and local copy of your score from your device.

Deleting your data

You can request deletion of your leaderboard entry (username and score) at any time using our data deletion page, or by emailing us at the address below. Please include the username shown on your leaderboard entry so we can identify the record to remove. Uninstalling the app removes all data stored on your device.

Children’s privacy

The app is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information (for example in a username), contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
